Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

I would recommend reading this. It gives a completely different views on mythical vampires. In this book they're not conveyed as soulless evil creatures of the night. However just like us humans there are some evil vampires and some good, well depending on your own view. This is the first book on vampires to ever hold onto my interest and concentration, it has everything I enjoy in a book. It has danger, suspense and obviously love which most teenage girls crave in a good book.

If you simply only enjoy gory blood sucking vampires I would recommend you don't read this book as most the vampires in this book are nothing of the sort. In fact most of the myths have been re-designed as the author sees. They can walk in sunlight, garlic and stakes are not deadly to them. However they do crave blood to soothe their appetite and of course have inhuman capabilities such as powerful strength, hearing, smell and sight.

I couldn't put Twilight down for even a second, I simply had to finish it as quickly as my eyes would allow. I seemed almost thirsty for the next page. I would say that I was captivated by this book because it's like my own fantasy as I'm sure other girls have. I mean, who doesn't want to be loved unconditionally by a beautiful vampire who is worthy enough to be an angel and would protect you without even a second's thought?

So lets get to the actually story....

Bella Swan is going to live with her dad, Charlie who she hasn't seen in years. When she gets there she realizes not much has changed. The weather still sucked, it was cold and raining and her dad still dines at his favorite diner. However her childhood friend Jacob Black has grown, obviously, and he's still pretty friendly.

Bella has to go to a new school whilst living there and on her first day she meets some new friends who are a bit crazy. There's Eric, Mike, Jessica and Angela. Whilst in the cafeteria at dinner Bella gets her first glimpse at 'The Cullens' who are amazingly beautiful. Bella only really has eyes for one of them, Edward Cullen and yes you guessed it, they're vampires.

In class Bella is placed in the only remaining place which happens to be next to Edward and needless to say she's pleased. That is until she notices his reaction to her. He makes it known he can smell something quite unpleasant which makes Bella think she stinks and not in a good way.

So after that class Edward disappears from school for a while leaving Bella wondering and confused. When he returns he tries to make amends. Bella's curiosity leads her to finding out just exactly what Edward is and instead of fearing him she just wants to be near him. As they fall deeper in love, a storm brews. Literally.

Remember when I mentioned the evil vampires? Well they got some heading their way. Whilst out on a date 'The Cullens' along with Bella are confronted by some vampires who's tastes are quite attuned to human blood. Specifically Bella's.

In a plan to protect Bella and her father she is split up from Edward to flee. Unfortunately Bella has an uncanny ability for getting herself into dangerous situations. This one may cost her her life.
